La valise d’été de votre bébé

Your baby's summer suitcase

Between birth and two years old, your baby will develop at an extraordinary rate, and each of their milestones will be a new source of wonder for you. Discover with us the major stages of their development and how to interact with them to help stimulate their awakening.

When the holidays approach, packing bags can quickly turn into a real move with a little one! Discover our tips for packing essentials without unnecessarily overpacking.

Clothing side

It's all about balance: you certainly don't want to spend your time doing laundry (especially if your holiday spot doesn't have a washing machine), but there's no question of multiplying luggage either! You can count on a maximum of one outfit per day and one pajama for two days, to which you'll add one or two warmer outfits to cope with unpredictable weather. Opt for flexible cotton outfits that don't require ironing. Don't forget bibs and swaddles, ultra-practical essentials in summer.

Sleeping side

It's hard to do without a bassinet or a travel cot... If you're going by car, it probably won't be a problem, but if you've chosen the train or plane, things get complicated! In this case, organize yourself in advance to rent one or borrow one on site: most hotels offer them, and there are many baby equipment rental services.
Other essentials for good nights: a sleeping bag, more or less light depending on your destination, a comforter if your baby has one, and a few pacifiers if they use them.

Food side

If your baby is exclusively breastfed, the question is settled: you don't need to bring anything! For the holidays, you can skip the nursing pillow and make do with a pillow or bolster you'll find on site.
However, if your baby is bottle-fed, remember to bring 2 or 3 bottles, a bottle brush to clean them, and the powdered milk they are used to. Also slip some plastic bibs (easily washable) or cloth diapers into the suitcase, very practical for wiping up small spills.
Finally, if your child has started solids, it's better to plan to buy compotes and baby food jars on site. If you insist on preparing purees yourself, simply bring the small cooker and blender you probably have at home.

Toiletry bag side

To avoid overfilling the toiletry bag, opt for compact products or those that combine several functions: body and hair wash gel for your baby, wipes for changing or cleaning, physiological serum in single doses, diaper cream that prevents and treats redness, samples of moisturizing face and body cream... Also very practical are Mustela essential kits in mini format, with the My little travel kit.

There's also no need to carry diapers for the entire stay: bring a few for the journey and then buy a pack when you arrive at your holiday destination. Also, pack a small first-aid kit with your child's usual medications if needed, as well as single doses of physiological saline solution, paracetamol syrup, bandages, an antiseptic, and a mosquito repellent suitable for young children.
Finally, summer holidays mean sun... and it's imperative to protect your baby's delicate skin, which is particularly vulnerable! You must bring: a maximum index sun protection (SPF 50+) specifically designed for young children, as well as sunglasses and one or two hats or bob hats.

And for outings

The stroller is particularly useful on holiday: it will of course be used to take your baby for walks, and you can also use it as a substitute for a bouncer for certain awake moments and for meals if your baby is diversified. But it is undeniably bulky... If you want to do without it, there's the option of a baby carrier or sling, which are much smaller and lighter. Meals can then simply be taken on your lap.
Are the bags ready? Then everyone in the car and happy holidays!
